Barbecue Time!
Grill outdoor, Eat indoor
BarbecueWhile the rest of the country was immersed in winter, we in Southern California were enjoying gorgeous weather and cooking outside.  Well, now is the time the rest of the country catches up to us and magazines are filled with tasty barbecue recipes.
Health.com has some of the easiest and flavorful low calories recipes on the Internet.  Click on this link and treat yourself without adding to your waistline.  If you, like me, live in the desert, you'll have to take these meals inside to eat!  Enjoy!

Back to Basics
Back to Basics

IdeaFit, a publication for fitness professionals, keeps its eye on the latest fitness trends.  After many years of high tech equipment flooding the market, there is a back to basics movement beginning in the U.S.

Sell your treadmill, your thighmaster, and your Bowflex.  Buy yourself a new pair of sneakers and an exercise mat and you're all set.  The back to basics philosophy is using your body weight for getting in shape.  That means doing the exercises you did when you were in fourth grade P.E.:  jumping jacks, push-ups, running laps, and sit-ups.

Remember, the rules still apply regarding warming-up properly, stretching afterward, and working out only as hard as you can comfortably handle.  I welcome this trend as it allows everyone to unclutter their lives and put their clothes back in the closet instead of hanging on an unused piece of exercise equipment.
