Good news about breast cancer
If breast cancer  runs in your family, there is good news for you.  A University of Rochester Medical Center study has found that postmenopausal women who led healthy lifestyles reduced their risk of getting breast cancer.
It was a large study, 85,000 women and it found that by participating in regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and drinking only 1 glass of alcohol a day or less lowers breast cancer risk.  This is important news for women who believed that if a close relative had the disease they were destined to get the disease.
Pollution and Diabetesair pollution

Cardiovascular and lung researchers at The Ohio State University Medical Center are the first to report a direct link between air pollution and diabetes.  Researchers found that exposure to air pollution, over a period of 24 weeks, exaggerates fat inflammation and insulin resistance, which can cause diabetes.

Worldwide, over 221 million people suffer from type 2 diabetes, which is a direct consequence of obesity.  Additionally, both obesity and diabetes are very prevalent in urban areas; poor air quality and its impact on diabetes must now be taken into account when discussing air quality standards.
